The Inn At Bay Fortune was originally the private summer home of Broadway Playwright Elmer Harris who bought the property in 1908 and built what is now the inn as his summer home in 1913. In 1988 David Wilmer and his family bought the property and renovated into an inn and restaurant now 24 years of operation we are celebrating both the birthday of the building and the 25th season of operating as The Inn At Bay Fortune 1989 - 2013
The Inn is graced with 17 unique rooms that range from cozy to among the most spacious suites on the Island; 14 have fireplace sitting areas and all have private baths. In addition, 5 rooms have balconies and 2 have private porch. Our rooms are uniquely furnished with a lively combination of Island antiques and the efforts of local craftspeople.
While many rooms offer good water views, the top rooms of the towers provide a view so good that you can see all the way to Cape Breton, N.S.
The Inn's distinctive architecture is complimented by award winning gardens that supply the kitchen with an ever changing supply of fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs and edible flowers...you cannot get any more local than that for "farm to fork dining". Our Maritime setting weathers the shingles and provides dew that nourishes the lawn and gardens that help characterize its charm. Bay Fortune is a constant companion as you wander our grounds. The view is an ever-present reminder of the ocean and its many moods.
